  • I got this idea when Wish kept showing PC parts when I was sourcing items for the random videos. SPOILER: It was a stupid idea.

I managed to get all the parts from the mighty Wish.com with the exception of the case. But was the low-spec graphics card a fake, as shown on YouTube with more expensive cards? SPOILER: Yes. Yes it was.

Oh well. At least I've got a potentially dangerous computer I can... er... put Linux on and use for editing Raspberry Pi SD card images...?

That PSU would not be able to run my single 1080ti. Despite being "800w". My 750w can put out almost 3x the amperage. That's just from what I can read on the side of it. What a piece of junk. LOL. I can't really see anyone scamming on a GT730...why? You'd think the scams would be focused on the high end cards, not entry level things that can run the Windows desktop and not much else.

If you would have removed the lid from the power supply, we could have told you what the rating of it was. I got a quick glimpse from the grille on the side when you were looking at the voltage switch and it looks like one of those abysmally shit Chinese IEDs that like to go bang. I'd estimate it can probably do 250W before it explodes. I really wouldn't have used it without first removing the dent from the bottom of the unit in case the PSU doesn't have an insulation shield under the power board (which cheap shitty PSUs often don't.) So shorting out is a definite possibility with exciting loud bangs, smoke and fire.

As for the motherboard already having a CPU in it, it's to prevent the socket from getting damaged. Normally when LGA775 boards shipped from the factory, they had a plastic insert clipped into the retention plate to prevent damage, but these usually get thrown away. Low end LGA775 CPUs are literally a dime a dozen so you can toss one in as a socket protector.

What that the CPU actually is, it's a Pentium Dual-Core, NOT a Core 2 Duo. The Pentium Dual-Core was a late CPU design for LGA775 where Intel took the final Wolfdale core revision used in the E8x00 series and cut it down for a series of cheaper parts. The Pentium Dual-Core E2210, E5x00 and confusingly the E6x00 (Intel used the E6xx0 name for Conroe Core 2 parts years prior), as well as the Core 2 Duo E7x00 were all based on a cut down Wolfdale-3M core with lower bus speeds and varying amount of cache disabled.

The E6x00 Pentium Dual-Core parts caused mass confusion, many thought Intel re-released the old Conroe parts, but the clock speeds and cache didn't match. People bought them to pair them with older i945 and i965 chipsets and were confused why they had compatibility issues with either the CPUs not working, or not being recognized properly.

As for the video card, it's clearly a counterfeit. Someone over in China got a hold of a batch of old GPUs and designed a new PCB for it. It definitely is not a 2 GB card with how many places for memory chips there are on the back that are not populated. I would estimate it probably has more like 256MB, 512MB or a stretch of 1 GB installed, which could be determined by removing the heatsink and looking up the memory IC part numbers. The reason the card crashed is because it ran out of video memory. Those fake cards often have modded BIOSes which are forced to display some arbitrary amount of RAM, which the driver thinks the card has. Whenever a game loads up and exceeds that memory capacity, it causes the crash. Another possibility is that the BIOS is also modded to think it has a better GPU ASIC than is actually present, which causes a whole host of other issues.

Mostly rebranded Samsung B stock, but if you are looking for something reliable and cheap, I haven't found a bad one yet. They do tend to be slower than some though, but honestly the difference is minimal.
