Ok can someone tell Will and Alec that chisels world on Metal too!! And they make sharp corners! And remove material much quicker and more accurately than burrs. Especially when you’re looking for smooth square sides. Just sayin’. Easier to control too.

Is the guard on the wrong side of the blade? Since it's supposed to be left handed.

                                  • Working Hands Making Stuff

I love watching will just pay so much attention to detail. the attention he gives the part when sanding/grinding is amazing. I do wonder, however, why didn't you just take some dykem and put it in the slot in the guard and then fit the blade? That would have scratched off the dykem where contact was being made and you'd be able to more easily see what still was not contacting. Either way, really nice work on the fit.

I'm not sure about what you're using for the stock, but in my experience, threaded rod is commonly made from free machining steel which is not weldable. It's either leaded or resulfurized to make the chips fly off the tool during its manufacture. If you want to make sure you don't run into problems, thread your own rod from known weldable steel. Free machining steels are convenient for the parts manufacturer but not for end users who need to fabricate (weld) items from them. As a metallurgist / welding engineer I'd run into this sort of thing all the time when designers think they have a good idea to use commercial parts for complex structures.

On this project it appears that Will has been in over his head several times and could have used Alec's help. Whatever is going on in Alec's life I hope he comes back to the channel that bears his name. The projects seem to be smaller nothing to in depth that will be at least 20 parts or more. I fully expect that Will will break this sword breaker permanently in the next video as in this video he broke it then came up with work arounds. And when it gets broken it will be Alec's fault not Wills, because where is Alec why has he left, a little explanation would be nice.
