THIS IS GENIUS. Why haven't we figured this out before? Whenever I go to Africa and South America I always make sure to pack a ridiculous amount of batteries. People always ask me for them because batteries which you purchase in country are horrible. This blending of an ancient technology with a new technology is a game changer, and as a mechanical engineer, I find it to be super exciting.

For those wondering, the units are just under $10, so the payback for a family in a developing nation should end up being about 3 months. This effectively eliminates the kerosene lighting poverty trap that millions of people fall into. I absolutely love it when engineering innovation solves an economic and environmental issue.

Gravity is a Luciferian lie. The weight is denser than the air around it. NOT gravity, gravity is use to deceive everyone. If gravity was real then how come gravity can hold trillions of gallons of water in our oceans to the surface of Earth, but it’s weak enough to allow us to walk, run and jump.

Smarter every day REALLY missed the bulls eye on this one. Gravity isn't powering that light! The energy producing the electricity the light is working from doesn't come from gravity. The energy comes from kinetic energy stored in the . That kinetic energy came from the person raising the weight to the top of the chain. The device converts that kinetic energy stored in the weight into electricity that's powering a light. No part of what I just explained was in this video.

cool and all . could be useful while camping however only about 6% of energy is used for lighting . And 98% of that is used by business and street lights . So while it is a very cool idea , it would be extremely unpractical for use in every day life . You would literally need a person to go to and turn on every street light in every advanced nation . The cost would be enormous . But still a very cool idea .

Actually, that's solar. It's stored as potential energy using gravity.
We could use tides to lift tonnes, and let the daily cycle turn generators. That would be gravity powered.

Don't waste your money, this is how a grandfather clock works and has been used to power large and small devices for over a century. go buy a cheap rc gear reduction gearbox, and put a weighted line wrapped on a pulley on one end of the gearbox and wire up a stepper motor with a bridge rectifier and mount the motor onto the fast moving side of the gearbox..... want a more robust system? get a bigger gear box and a bigger weight.

incorporate a rain barrel for weight if you want, and use the power generated to pump your new barrel of rainwater.....

It’s not powered by gravity, the energy is provided by the human pulling the weight up.

To be fair, gyms should be modernized. Gyms could become a powerhouse, where people could generate electricity while doing exercise. Either by lifting weights or bicycling or running on carpets etc. A lot of power is "wasted" there to be fair. Including myself :P

What a Gimmick - Common science being misrepresented to gullible public as some Gravity converts to Light.
Real shame on you guys trying to promote and market a Dynamo ( A DC Generator )product that produces Light.
The real conversion happening is - not by Gravity.
Gravity used just as an aid to rotate the the generator - which actually provides EMF Voltage for illuminating LED.
And of course - You Never can achieve Perpetual control.
Somebody needs to restore weights back to top - so as to have it drop again and thereby spin generator.
Instead - you can simply put the mechanical spring loaded Timer ( used in old Washing machines) to do same.
Why such cumbersome pulleys and Weight Loads. Making Fools out of innocent people. STOP your Fake Innovation.
