The ironic part of me watching this is: I have chronic pain in my entire body, one of the places its worst is the knee and right above the knee. While I was watching this my knees started to just hurt a little bit more all the time throughout the video😂😂😂😂 obviously pain isn't funny, but the situation is kinda funny when you watch a video about knee surgery/pain and then your own knee pain gets worse the more you watch the video😂

My mom got a physical addiction to pain medication from prescribed medication. She never misused it. In fact, her doctor insisted the drug she was taking was non habit forming (which we now know is bullshit. Ultra is highly addictive). Anyways, she was on a massive dose of it plus he’d given her Vicodin for her period cramps. Skip ahead four years, and her doctor died. She found a new doctor, and he refused to give her the prescriptions. I think to this day that that second doctor went about it entirely wrong and my mom should’ve been weened off and given support for the physical dependence. She’d taken those narcotics EVERYDAY for four years, etc the Vicodin which she only took about six days out of the months. Anyways, she started going through MASSIVE withdraw. She felt ashamed and embarrassed despite it not being her fault at all. She was a single mother with a 9 year old and 4 year old, was experiencing tons of pain, and massive withdraw. She confided in her boss and he told her to take a week off from work. Two days in to that week, and in full withdraw, one of her coworkers come over to bring her check and he offered her Percocet. She didn’t take it. But two days later she called him back and said she’d take some, just enough to ween herself through the week. It helped, but then she went right back in to severe withdrawal. She couldn’t sleep, and she says the absolute worst symptom for her was the restless legs and restless body. She couldn’t sit or lay still for more than a few seconds. This coworker then offered her heroin. And she was VERY close to taking it. She says she didn’t even think. Genuinely didn’t think. It was just “yes, bring some over. Anything to make this stop”. But by the grace of whatever higher power is out there my grandmother had called that evening and my mom had broken down to her on the phone. My grandmother came and got her and took her to the ER. A few nurses made her feel like some junky, but the doctor she saw was actually extremely understanding of her situation, and believed that it was at no true fault of her own. Both doctors should’ve been more responsible. He gave her a medication that would get rid of the restless legs, and something else that wouldn’t get rid of the withdraw but would lessen it just enough. She spent the next two weeks rather miserable but got through it. She easily could’ve slipped in to a cycle of illegal substance abuse. Just because doctors were irresponsible. It happens. It happens a lot. And it needs to stop happening. If a doctor is going to prescribe narcotics, addiction prevention and tapering needs to be a major priority. Because there’s assholes out there who, like my moms coworker, will try to benefit off someone’s weakened state during withdraw, and offer them drugs. One of the things he offered my mom were these patches. He never explained what they were but she later found out it was fentanyl. She likely would’ve died had she used them. She had NO tolerance. Not for hardcore drugs like heroin and fentanyl. This coworker actually died four years later while on a job. He went to the bathroom during a lunch break and was found dead in the bathroom by some of the other arborists. Heroin overdose. They called the cops, but the first responding cop did not have narcan on him as not all officers had it back then. It was too late anyways. He left behind three kids and a wife.
