                      I prefer 85/15 but it's not as ubiquitous as 80/20.

                        *Soggy bun fix:* lightly grill/toast the bun for a few seconds on the pan. If you like the texture of a little crunch (like In-N-Out) do it a little longer until it's golden brown.
                        If you put it in the toaster it will just dry it out and make it taste like, well, toast.

                              If I have to construct the burger (meaning with bun) and it will not be eaten immediately, I will flip the burger so the cheese is in the bottom. Depending on the cheese, this can help as a moisture barrier for a short time. Works best with large pieces of cheese melted onto the burger in the last minute of cooking.

                                                        Andy's disgusted expression at the thought of cooking a burger directly on grill grates is so funny to me. Does he not realize you clean the grates (using a grill brush to remove any bits) before turning on the grill and that the heat of the grill sanitizes the grates? Does he expect people to cook their ribs or brisket in a pan/sheet in the grill? I have so many questions for him now.

                                                                    If you are putting cheese in the patty, you stop it exploding by using a toothpick to make a steam hole after the first flip. Don't poke it right the way through, or the cheese will flow out the bottom: just poke through to the cheese.
