I hope you enjoy this video! One note: the little numbers that pop up in the bottom-left corner are references. By matching the number to the ones at the bottom of the description you can find where a piece of information comes from in the video.

There is a saying on the boat; that you never piss off the DOC, yeomen, and the cooks.
I would like to say thank you for the acknowledgement of the cooks, because for the most part we are hardly ever mentioned. We are the heart & soul of the boat and we strive to do our best with what we got. 😎
      Respectfully,

      ?????? How Submarines work???????
Not one word on how they actually work.
The title should have read:- How military submarines are used.

Informative video only you're pronouncing the word 'submariner' incorrectly. It's not 'submarine' with an 'r' at the end. It's 'mariner' i.e. a sailor, with 'sub' as a prefix.

Your title is misleading. You have covered every aspect of submarines but nowhere do you actually show how they work. How they are controlled and how they dive and come back up again. How does the ballast system work propulsion systems etc etc .

Just wondering : why dont they make a small pod with proper antenna that would float and bring high speed comms to the sub via an umbilical fiber cable. The pod can be powered from the sub via the same cable ? ! The pod can then be pulled back and secured inside the sub. It's only 200-300 meters deep.
If that proves to be a good idea then I need a royalty for each pod manufactured !!!

Decades ago a submariner stationed at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard claimed he was going to shoot me with a 45. I just happened to be SAC intel at the time. Not that it really mattered.
He didn't shoot me. That would have hurt.
You never know what is going to happen in this world.
Trying to get a cross the street is dangerous.

The sad thing is retaliation is the worst option because once a nuclear attack happens, any subsequent attacks basically ensure the destruction of all life on earth. The best option is to do nothing, as fucked up as that might sound.

You see the only advanced telecom in the ocean is sattilite which work exactly like cellular broadband except third are not enough sattilite to download the universe so a sea man must use am radio in the form of Marconi telegraph which is done through a CDMA transmitter made by qualicom which is like a over the air tv broadcast.

The reason food is so good on subs is because it's a smaller crew so the cooks are able to toy around with the recipes a bit. some of them have their specialties as well. One of the cooks on the boat I was one was from New Orleans and made some damn good gumbo and jambalaya. Another one of the cooks worked at a mom and pop pizza joint in New York. And one other was just really good at baking. I made good friends with the night baker while we were on patrol, so he'd typically let me eat cookies fresh from the oven. And since I was midrats crank for a while he'd let me make my own omelettes before the rest of the crew came in to eat.

Edit: I forgot to mention, one of the cooks on my dad's sub was pulled from duty to become Bill Clinton's personal chef while he was president.
