I want to understand how this lock works exactly. Could you explain it a bit more?

Yeah I'm pretty sure this in unpickable for everyone but those who know exactly what to do, and even then it's hard as hell.

"Going full "Lock Nerd" right now?" I'm sorry LPL, but I have a feeling that ship sailed a *LONG* time ago. *lol*

I use to own a pick-proof Master rock. Some jerk filled it with Super Glue.

Master Lock trying to fix something that all you need to do is cut the lock. No one is picking a lock int he field.

That's amazing on so many levels! The almost accidentally made a superlock! But just a little too much Master lock remained. The use of plastic is shameful

Is there any advice you could give us regarding owning a set of lock picks in a state where they are illegal? Is there any way I can argue for owning them without taking them out of my house? I'd like to practice lock picking, but lock picks are illegal in my state.

I cant imagine this lock functioning in the cold. If I cant take a flame to my frozen lock without worrying about melting its guts or permanently disabling it then forget that lock. What do you think would happen if you took a torch and got the lock hot enough to melt the plastic? Could it help pick it or would it disable the lock permanently? Experiment?!?!

That’s really cleaver. If you couldn’t get to the side bar which wouldn’t be difficult to fix, then that would be a decent lock

Lots of thought put into the various mechanisms they have. The only problem is that they can't open their own locks. If you can't open it, it's not broken, I guess.

Is there a lock that provides a tamper-evident indicator in case someone attempted and/or succeeded in picking it? I'm imagining something like a pin that is never set by the key but would be easily set through picking and once set, could not be unset except after opening with the key, and would leave a visible indication for the owner, and then perhaps only at the time of unlocking using the key.

                                                                                        • Jayyy Zeee

People assume that most locks provide reasonable security. I guess as long as people keep buying them, they'll keep making this kind of junk. My question for LockPickingLawyer is roughly what percentage of locks do you think are not merchantable?

Unless the thieves watched this episode, they wouldn't be able to open this lock using standard lock picking.
                                                                                              I would rate this LPL3
