Man, I hope this ain't about Big O. I met him, and he was cool as Hell. Haha, cool. It ain't him.

Wait a minute. She wanted to get him out of a dangerous environment, so she moved him to Louisiana, lol. Should have maybe researched that a little better, lol.

It's kinda easy to judge and make snide stupid insensitive comments but really we shouldn't judge. I will say that I'm not a big over eater but I will say that I find myself eating a little lately to compensate for boredom and loneliness .

This literally happened with Pablo Sandaval aka Panda. He was a baseball player and he was on the Boston Red Sox. The first year he looked good and played well but then during the offseason he blew up to well over 300lbs, so we had to cut him and nobody else wanted him

He didn't choose food; food chose him! Society feels bad for drug addicts and alcoholics, but calls people with a food addiction gluttons and slobs. When will food addiction become viewed as what it actually is, which is a sickness just like drug addiction and alcoholism. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes!

That's really sad... I played against him in High School (Banning). We beat them (Crenshaw) in '83 for the LA 4A City Championship. At that time, it was almost unheard of for a 10th grader to dominate the way he did. He was an unselfish and very talented player. From there we went on to lose to Reggie Miller and Riverside Poly in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Playoffs. They went on to win the State title over Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland). He seemed like a decent dude. Level-headed and not cocky at all. I remember him at LSU but the NBA was a blur. Now I see why. Had no idea his career ended the way it did.😯

I doubt John Williams decided to do anything. It sounds like he had an eating disorder. You can't control that shit without help... the help the NBA should have offered but didn't.

I'm sure he never met him or ever talked to him but it wasn't him needing to push away from the table, John was suffering from depression after WATCHING his best friend drown in front of his eyes! We live in a time of mental health and awareness, but that wasn't the case back then. NBA teams only cared about the product, not the player. After having traumatic experiences some people turn to drugs, some people turn to alcohol. In John's case, his depression and grief overwhelmed him and he ate. The knee injury didn't help, and in his grief he didn't give a damn about rehab. Today, he would have had many resources to overcome his grief and loss. Consider the facts I'm giving you, and stall the guy out. John is a great guy, the best basketball player the city of Los Angeles has ever produced. I'm an alumnus of Crenshaw High, and we're proud of how John represented the school and community.

I'd say he just needed a support system and friends. The only times he really gained weight was when he was sent on rehab to deal with all his family and personal issues alone. When he was traveling with the teams and working out, even if not playing, he lost weight probably because he was finally surrounded by people not trying to grub money off him.
