Clean-up work was underway across Hong Kong the day after violent protests marred grand celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The violence escalated on October 1, 2019, despite the city being under virtual lockdown since the morning, with many shops and MTR railway stations closed. Marches and rallies quickly descended into chaos, including a police officer opening fire with a live round at a protester for the first time.

Protesters vandalised government offices and MTR railway stations, as well as businesses seen to have close ties with China or for voicing disapproval with the ongoing protests.

Why bother to cleanup, repair all the damages? The people love it as such. Close down all MRT and public transport.

why would they celebrate national day? of course its a time to reek havoc and show the world you do not want to be ruled by the CCP. Free Hong Kong, Free Xin Jiang, Free Tibet and Free Mongolia. CCP can keep the rest of China since they appear to be so happy with their governance. People have the right to self determine.

This shows who really love HongKong and those who do not. These rioters do not love their city. They are still immature and are not ready for the real world. The old still have to clean up after their mess. These violent riots do not help in construction but creating destruction. True freedom can only be done through peaceful and calm resolutions not violent acts of chaos and destruction.

So the local councils have learned a lesson after the riots, rebuild with concrete or tarred sidewalks and walkways, no more pavers and loose bricks.

We are witnessing too much freedom in Honk Kong soon they will have to taste the bitterness in every way economy will totally collapse and they have to pray sometime China will change mind to make Honk Kong area as a Military area and China can declare that area isn't suitable for living those who live there would have no option than migrating Mainland China. A country can never run out of ideas which can solve issues they may have to worry in future...

People can create protest songs on the internet or take to the streets to express their opinions. They're really creative. The appearance of a city is nothing in comparison to its people's spirits and values.
