We used to make sidewalk chalk with plaster of paris and tempera paint, when I was a kid. The more water, the softer the chalk will be when it dries (though the more water, the longer it takes to dry).

It's not smooth because you didn't add the seasonings

I think it definitely comes out smoother because they essentially get the ramen more crushed up when they are packing it in. Even though they don't crush it small to begin with, they aggressively jam tons of ramen in, one after an other. That jamming motion is breaking it into tiny pieces as it goes in and they put way way more than is necessary overlapping, so they're actually filling it with lots and lots of ramen dust that is crushing any cavities and filling them in as they go. In addition, I do suspect an epoxy mix in it vs glue to get a more solid binding. But cool attempt. I think the texture bothered me less before the color match. If that part were patented gold or black or red, them it may have acted like a cool feature instead of some gross deterioration of the vase. Definitely the best attempt I'd seen online to copy that method.

You could also use spackle over the ramen bumps to fill the holes and also try using a finer power of noodz, the ones used were not crushed up enough. Also I think had you not let it set as long, while sanding the excess would have filled the holes and attached to the semi wet glue but because you waited so long the excess had nothing to stick to, hence lots of holes and pockets and divots. Still I love you guys and your channel!

i think for ramen noodle fix.. after you sand the entire thing, i think you should fill in all the holes with super glue again. and then once you sand that again, i think it would be smooth.

You should glue the ramen thick AF then sand it then put ramen again then sand it repeat this step until you think its smooth so it will be smoothyou should use elephant super glue, because that super glue is liquidy, but beware not to stain on your hands or anything because you will feel kinda "burn" or hot on your hands but you can wash it off but in days maybe 3 days or so, and its SUPER GLUEY
ps: you cant wear gloves, because the glue will burn the glove, as in melt the glove and melt through the glove and "burn" your hands

I think the guy just used the coarse noodles as filler and then he dumped on a bunch of ramen powder that he had ground up really fine (probably using a coffee grinder) into a powder consistency. The video showed him dumping about a half a cup of noodle powder on top of the noodles. So the top layer was all powder, not actual noodles. More of a plaster of Paris type thing, mixed with glue instead of water. Also, you could probably dunk the coarser noodles into a glue bath first (maybe a wood glue?) and then just tuck them in that way.
